The Bite Window Is Fleeting

Fishing is a series of challenges—far more grueling than most people imagine.
Especially when it comes to targeting powerful pelagic species like yellowtail or amberjack.
You wake up before dawn, drive for hours, hike rugged shorelines with heavy gear on your back.
On a charter boat, it’s often overcrowded, and you have to compete with other anglers for every bite—not to mention the high cost of boarding.

And even then, it’s not unusual to come home empty-handed.

“The bite window is fleeting.”

Do you have a lure you can cast with complete confidence when that one critical moment arrives?

Are You Choosing It Just Because It's Popular?

Dozens—hundreds—of lures line the walls of every tackle shop.
Among them, why did you choose that one?
Because it’s well-known? Because it looks like it might catch fish? Because everyone else is using it?

But can you actually explain what makes that lure effective—physically?
Can you describe, in measurable terms, how it performs compared to others?
What makes it better—or worse—than similar lures?
Can you explain the difference using actual physics, not just gut feeling?

You’ll often hear fishing pros on YouTube say things like:
“This lure casts far, has strong appeal, and fish don’t spook from it easily.”
But anyone can say that.
Many of them are just repeating what the manufacturer told them—without truly understanding the physical principles behind lure design.

We Originally Worked in Lure Development

We were entrusted by lure manufacturers around the world to handle everything from planning and design to mass production at scales of tens of thousands of units.
We repeatedly refined and tested prototypes, adjusting lip angles and internal weights in 0.5mm increments.

We’ve disassembled and analyzed countless legendary lures—studying their action, materials, specific gravity, shapes, and balance in meticulous detail—to guide further improvements.

At times, we received seemingly contradictory requests, like:
"Create a minnow that flies like a metal jig, but swims as lightly and nimbly as a balsa minnow."

Creating the Ultimate Lure

Strike Lure is a brand we launched with a single goal:
To create the ultimate lure, built upon years of hands-on development experience, in-depth research into legendary lures, and a deep understanding of what truly makes lures effective.

At the core of our design philosophy are two essential performance elements that we believe are absolutely critical in any lure:

  1. Attractiveness – The ability to catch the fish’s attention through bold movement, light reflection, and bubble trails.

  2. Subtlety – The ability to avoid spooking fish and trigger a bite, through high-pitch vibration and a natural presence in the water.

Even if a lure excels in one of these areas, it won’t consistently catch fish unless it balances both.
We believe that a truly effective lure must achieve a high level of performance in both appeal and subtlety—only then can it be called a lure that truly catches fish.

High-Pitch

First, let’s define “pitch”: it refers to the speed at which a lure flutters—tilting side to side and returning upright as it swims.

The faster the pitch, the harder it becomes for a predator to clearly perceive the lure’s form—like a blur or afterimage.
Even when approaching closely, the fish struggles to recognize it as a fake, reducing hesitation and increasing the chance of a bite.

Conversely, if the pitch is too slow, the lure becomes easier to visually process, making it more likely that the fish will identify it as unnatural and avoid striking.

A toy that tips over and rights itself has a light upper half and a weighted lower half.
Applied to lure design, this means that by ensuring air is kept in the upper body and heavy weights are concentrated in the lower section, the lure will quickly return to an upright position when it tips—resulting in high-pitch action.

Making the Body Lighter

The heavier the body material and the thicker the coating, the more sluggish the lure’s action becomes—making it easier for fish to spot it as a fake.
Conversely, using lighter body materials and thinner coatings allows the lure to move more sharply and crisply, reducing the chance of being detected.

Example:
Two people of the same height—say, 170cm—would weigh about 45kg if made of paulownia wood, or 155kg if made of ABS plastic.
That’s a 110kg difference in weight, despite having the exact same body shape—just because of the material.

This difference in density is precisely why wooden lures are often said to outperform plastic ones.
Their lighter weight gives them a faster, smoother pitch, making them less likely to be detected by fish.

Rollboy uses a paulownia wood body, and builds upon plastic lure design by hollowing out the interior while still maintaining essential structural strength.
And of course, the only thing lighter than paulownia is air.
This combination—wood + hollow construction—represents the pinnacle of lightweight lure design.

It’s a physical advantage that neither solid plastic lures nor solid wooden lures can match, and it’s what enables Rollboy to achieve its signature super high-pitch action.

Even the coating reflects this concept: if you run your finger over the edge of the eye sticker, you’ll notice just how incredibly thin it is.

Square Profile

Rollboy’s body shape is a square column—not at all fish-like in appearance.
But there’s a clear physical reason for this: air volume and light reflection.

Compared to cylindrical lures, the square shape holds more internal air, which means higher buoyancy even at the same length.
This allows the use of heavier weights and larger hooks without sacrificing action.

Additionally, while cylindrical lures reflect light in all directions, a square-profile lure reflects light in strong, concentrated flashes from flat surfaces.
This makes it easier for predators—especially those in deeper water or areas crowded with other anglers using cylindrical lures—to notice the lure first.

In Conclusion

Rollboy is the culmination of our years of experience in lure development and research.
It’s a lure designed to physically maximize both appeal and subtlety—the two essential elements needed to trigger bites.

Of course, Rollboy isn’t without its drawbacks.
Because it’s extremely lightweight, casting distance is limited.
And due to its hollow structure and ultra-thin coating, body strength is somewhat lower.
But in mid- to close-range battles, nothing beats it.

We have absolute confidence in its ability to provoke strikes from any fish in the area.

“Minimal strength = Maximum action.”
That’s the essence of Rollboy.
